Since my focus has always been on Cajun & Creole food,
I decided to gather up the
Top 10 Cajun & Creole Dishes of 2014.
This list is based on reader's views.
10. Buttery Garlic Frog Legs
I'm thinking this got a lot of views simply because it's unusual.
But it also tastes good too.
9. Cajun Pork Roast
This is a Sunday dinner type of dish. Takes a while, but worth it.
(And I don't even like pork roast all that much)
8. Mardi Gras Croquembouche
Croquembouche is a tower of cream puffs.
What better time to pull out something decadent and over the top than Mardi Gras?
7. Creamy Shrimp & Grits (w/ Andouille)
Glad this one made the list. Probably my favorite dish of the year.
6. Crab au Gratin Pizza
Crab au Gratin is really big here...especially at upscale seafood restaurants.
I kind of de-classed it. It's just what I do!
5. Grilled Herb Butter Redfish
Makes me want to go out and catch some reds.
4. Creole Shrimp & Grits
Good to see so many shrimp and grits fans.
3. Guinea Gumbo
This is one of my favorites too.
2. Crab & Shrimp Gumbo
It's funny to me that this post ranked so high.
I had reservations about putting a gumbo recipe out there in the middle of summer!
1. Italian Marinated Grilled Redfish on the Half Shell
The half shell method makes grilling easy.
The idea comes from Frank Davis, Mr. Naturally N'Awlins, who I grew up listening to on the radio.

My favorite posts of the year aren't focused on food.
Last January, I took a deep breath and jumped into a topic that was a little scary to write about here.
It's an issue I'm passionate about.
But I wondered if it would be too controversial.
Too political. Too against big oil.
Too against local and state government.
Too tree-hugging.
But the feedback was surprising.
And welcome.
This 4 part series may be the best thing I have ever done here.
